Mark Gibney is the Belk Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina-Asheville. His most recent book publications include International Human Rights Law: Returning to Universal Principles (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008) and an edited volume (Gibney et al.) The Age of Apology: Facing Up to the Past (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2007). In addition, he has two forthcoming books. The first is the edited volume (Gibney & Skogly) Human Rights and Extraterritorial Obligations (University of Pennsylvania Press) and Sabine Carey, Steve Poe and Mark Gibney, The Politics of Human Rights (Cambridge University Press).

Originally from Lexington, KY, Linda Cornett earned her BA from Transylvania University in Lexington KY and her Masters and PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is currently Associate Professor of Political Science at UNC-Asheville, where she has taught for more than 10 years. Although her research interests are focused on comparative and international political economy, as well as Human Rights, she teaches a wide variety of classes in world politics including: Introduction to the Principles of International Relations; International Political Economy; the Political Economy of Development; International Law; International Organization; Latin American Politics; and European Politics, among others.

Reed Wood, ABD at the University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill, earned his BA in history and human rights studies at the University of North Carolina--Asheville and his MA in political science at UNC. His current research focuses on the strategic dimensions of state and non-state actor violence against civilians during civil wars and the processes of strategic learning among state and non-state actors during conflicts. His research interests focus broadly on issues of human rights, labor rights, repression, and civil conflict. He has taught undergraduate courses in international relations at UNC and before entering graduate school taught social studies to middle and high school students. He has recently published articles in International Studies Quarterly and the International Studies Journal.
